The couple bought the block a couple of years ago with a view of completing a small-scale development project and engaged acclaimed designer Jayson Pate to come up with a contemporary, yet totally unique style.

“As an interior designer, I’d worked with Jayson on other projects and the idea was to create a design that would still bring a touch of personality to the project yet would also have wider appeal,” Ms Hailey said.
“It’s always a challenge at a project’s start to forecast what will be vogue two years down the track when the project’s live, but Jayson came up with an amazing design that has the Palm Springs influence we really wanted because that’s what people like and it also suits the Gold Coast lifestyle.”

Featuring curves, arched windows and a subtle use of natural materials, the light and bright two-storey villa comprises four bedrooms, three bathrooms, open plan living areas, and an alfresco entertaining area with its own personal plunge pool.
Its focus is on low-maintenance living but from the stylish front facade to the interior textured feature walls and geometric exterior tiles, there’s no shortage of mid-century inspired glam.

“There’s this incredible attention to detail throughout and I love the functionality of the floorplan,” she said.
“We tried to make it fun and interesting but not too over the top, and a lot of people remark on what a great feel the property has.”
Key to that feel is Ms Hailey’s interior design, with the partial or complete furniture package available as part of the purchase.

As for the rise of the Palm Springs aesthetic on the Gold Coast, Ms Hailey said it was a style which naturally suited the laid-back Gold Coast lifestyle.
“It can be funky or a little bit retro and is a style with a lot of versatility,” she explained.
“There’s room for creativity inside and outside and it’s all about curves and texture that encapsulate the Palm Springs style.”
Ms Hailey noted the property’s central location within walking distance of Pacific Fair and Broadbeach ensured the home would appeal to a range of prospective buyers, whether they wanted to use it as their permanent base, a potential short-term letting property, or their holiday home.
