New hospital is shot in the arm for Tweed Coast property market

9 Rob Roy Cres, Kingscliff sold for $3.6m.

The upcoming arrival of the new $720m Tweed Hospital has strengthened buyer sentiment in nearby beachside markets, with sales totalling more than $30 million recorded in Kingscliff since last month.

A pipeline of major infrastructure investment has injected a renewed vigour into the region, where house prices slipped last year on the back of rising interest rates, following a steep trajectory of growth through the pandemic.

The far north coast was a huge beneficiary of lifestyle-led migration through Covid, with cashed-up Melbourne and Sydney buyers splashing record sums on newly build luxury beachside homes.

11 Cylinders Dr, Kingscliff sold for $4.85m.

PropTrack data shows prices recovered through the first half of 2023, notching up 7.7 per cent growth over the past 12 months to a median of $2m.

The construction contract for a new Kingscliff ambulance station was awarded to FKG this month, delivering another confidence boost, said local agent Nick Witheriff, of LJ Hooker.

Mr Witheriff said medicos and ancillary health specialists from South East Queensland and

Sydney were house-hunting ahead of planned transfers to the region’s cutting-edge health precinct, which will comprise 430 beds.
